Team SASS – Serious About Stylish Science

We wanted to show the willingness and ongoing initiatives changing healthcare from five different views of mental health under the pandemic, including health care professionals, people in isolation, long-distance relationships, the elderly, and substance abusers. The “Problem + Solution” approach will allow us to address detrimental issues with an overall optimistic message that the prompt “Apart but Together” emulates. This infographic is targeted to any English-speaking lay audience and hopes to shine light and propose a direction to solve individual struggles in COVID19 times.

Ideation

The ideation process started by brainstorming possible topics related to mental health during the pandemic using Miro boards. This online platform also allowed us to easily create a mental map to organize all topics into different areas and decision-making templates to decide on the areas we believed more important and interesting. These team exercises also lead us to decide that a “Problem-Solution” approach would be the best way to address detrimental issues with an overall optimistic message.

Workflow

The production process was fast and efficient. We first created a list of all the assets needed and divided the work (research, 3D assets and illustrations) between smaller teams. Each step in the production of the illustrations (sketching, vector creation and final render and details) was done by teams of two. We tracked the progress of each illustration using Trello boards and setting up tight production deadlines.

“[This project] definitely made us more aware of little things we can do in our everyday life to check on and improve our own mental health and that of our loved ones.”
